DOOM DOOM DOOM (notes from the planetary garden) is a site-specific intervention curated by Zaïra Oram as part of the biennial festival for audiovisual art, Klang Moor Schopfe, held in Gais (CH). «Schopfe» is a Swiss German term for a small barn used by farmers to store various equipment or materials, often found isolated amidst fields.
Due to structural weaknesses, a metal prop placed in the center of the main room of the barn supported its first floor. Expanding on this strong presence, we installed four additional props in the space, upon which over forty books were positioned, pressing against the ceiling. The publications shared a common theme: the potential for self-destruction of humankind, along with the looming fear of societal collapse.
A multilayered sound piece was composed specifically for the event, incorporating recordings of young people reading titles from the Library of the Apocalypse, alongside various field recordings of natural sounds.
During the festival, the artist and performer Rahel Kraft activated the installation, interpreting the book titles for the audience.
